Evaluation Criteria

Evaluation Criteria for Tax Lawyers

First we review the firm’s understanding of general tax issues and the laws associated with them. Do the attorneys work with clients to help them better understand the tax laws specific to them?  If any changes need to be made, is the firm capable of effectively helping the client with the legal processes needed for the changes?

Next we focus on corporate tax law.  How capable is the firm at helping corporations deal with understanding the taxes that are required by the state and federal governments based on profit and what their employees owe to the government?

We then review the firm’s knowledge in regard to personal tax that individuals are required to pay to their local, state, and federal governments. Does the firm work with clients to handle issues of owing the government funds and individuals who refuse to pay taxes they believe they are not entitled to pay?  Do the attorneys give quality advice to clients when it comes to dealing with personal taxes?

Another aspect of our evaluation focuses on a firm’s ability to deal with money laundering cases.  Is the firm able to work with clients to prove innocence and to protect the client from unwarranted claims?

Lastly, we review the firm’s understanding of international tax law. Do the attorneys have an understanding of how taxes applied both by other countries and by the United States?  Is the firm qualified to give sound advice regarding international tax in order to protect their client from potential legal issues?
