POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide legal advice and assistance to all assigned client groups within the company.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Oversee Paralegals as assigned by the General Counsel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provides legal advice and assistance on issues relating to survey and certification, regulatory compliance, reimbursement, fraud and abuse, financing, acquisitions and divestitures, general transactional issues, contracts, risk management, litigation, investigations, corporate governance, intellectual property, policy and procedure, development of targeted training programs and other areas affecting the operations conducted by clients, as assigned.
2. Provides all routine legal services for assigned client groups.
3. Advises management and assists in documentation and negotiations, when requested, in relation to acquisitions, joint ventures, arrangements with providers, reimbursement issues, managed care organizations, and a variety of other corporate projects and activities.
4. Confers or negotiates with attorneys and officials in other companies or in government agencies.
5. Upon direction from General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel, executes specific assignments that have a wide variety of legal contexts.
6. Provides written opinions to client groups when requested.
7. Provides training to client groups on legal aspects of their operations, as requested.
8. Provides summaries and reports of activities, as requested.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as requested related to projects and activities of the Vice President General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Law degree and license to practice law in Wisconsin.
Experience: Must have 3-5 years of experience as a practicing Attorney. Skilled nursing operations experience preferred.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Appreciation of managerial problems and business objectives. Excellent communication skills and ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with persons within and without the corporation. Appreciation and commitment to departmental philosophy as service and support department.
